Cannibis Sativa
Medicinal Marijuana is Legal in Canada

Marijuana: or pot, is the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is usually smoked in pipes or in the form of joints, or the THC is extracted into butter so that it may be used in cooking and eaten. Pot can also be made into a tincture and used as a medicinal tea. Oil is extracted and either smoked or eaten.

The amount of THC you would have to ingest for it to be lethal is estimated to be 20,000 - 40,000 times a normal dose obtained from a night of heavy toking. No one could intentionally ingest that amount.

Synonyms: Cannabis Sativa, Ganja, grass, weed, kif, Neckweed, Hemp, muggles, tea, reefer, pot, 420, 1042, tokes, nickel bag, lid, bud, green, Chronic, Dope, Herb, Kryptonite, Sinsemilla, Weed, Tea, Lid, Broccoli, Blunt, doobie, joint, nail, phillie, maui wowie... to many to mention but you get it.

Medicinal Values:Is pot beneficial to those suffering with Illness? Patients were prescribed marijuana for depression, insommnia, stress, socialphobia, pain and many more symptoms. It has been proven to cure cancer (see Rick Simpson)

The two types of marijuana plants that most people are familiar with are: C. Sativa and C. Indica, each with many strains. These two types have different effects on the user. Although both Indica and Sativa relieve certain medical conditions, they produce quite a different effect on the body, thus the user might prefer one type from the other depending on the maladie.

Indicas are generally body orientated and muscle-relaxing. They are helpful for people with sleep disorders by helping the user to become a bit detached and relaxed. Whilst Sativas are more 'heady,' inspirational and 'focused' making it a wonderful herb for relieving the doldrums, giving energy and helping the user feel motivated.
How it is used: Pot is typically smoked in a pipe, water pipe (bong), or rolled into a cigarette (joint). Some users also mix marijuana into foods, such as brownies, or use it to brew tea. Tinctures are popular with those that suffer breathing difficulties.
HashishHashish - the Champagne category of THC. Either you like it or you don't. To all hash lovers a pipeful of some good afghani is sheer heaven! Hash that comes from the Middle East is not viable to make in home recipes because of the procedure. You need acres of weed to get good hash.

Gender Used: Female

Cannibis Sativa

Description: Marijuana is an annual type plant of the family (Cannabaceae). It can be grown anywhere in-doors. The leaves are alternate or opposite, and resemble an open palm, with five to seven long, serrated leaflets. The leaves are sticky with resin. The plants are distinctly male or female. The flowers are unshowey and green. Sativa strains are tall and sparse and their leaves are elongated. Indica strains are bushier, more dense plants and their leaves are broad.

Cannibis Sativa

Seeds: The seeds are glossy, roundish-ovate and slightly flattened, without odor.
Cannibis Sativa

THC is the primary active ingredient in Pot and is responsible for producing the desired effects.

Cannibis Sativa

Flowers: (Buds) Pot is harvested from the flowering buds of the plant as these hold the highest THC content. The leaves used for the production of cheap oil or thrown away as their potency is not high.

Pot does not help everyone

Pot smokers across the country - or the world for that matter - all want you to believe that no harm comes from smoking the herb. They toute its benefits and want you to believe that everyone will have wonderful experiences when high. But in reality this picture this isn't entirely true. There are numerous accounts of people getting sick, having anxiety attacks and feeling very ill when smoking pot. I advocate for pot but I also realize that pot isn't for everyone. Not all drugs help all people. There is no one miracle drug. So pot, just like any other drug out there will have adverse affects on some people. Just as penicillin will help the majority of the masses, a certain percentage report negative affects. So it is with pot. Some get terrific benefits and others feel quite sick after smoking it.

The experience one realizes from smoking pot is not the same for everyone. It is subjective really. It also depends on how often you use it. Daily smokers will not get the same experience a novice or part time smoker will recieve. I remember getting the gigglies so bad I couldn't catch my breath. I got the munchies so bad I cleaned out the fridge. I had beautiful relaxing sleeps full of remarkable dreams. Smoking pot altered my reality completely. I smoke daily now and those things don't happen on the level I have become accustomed to. I get hungry but a sandwich will be enough. I find humour in things but don't laugh my face off anymore. My sleep is no longer affected. I find I am more creative when high and it is when I do the work I create on this website or a craft I decide to throw my interests into at the time.

What are the common side effects of marijuana use?

I have a few words to say here. The side effects I have listed here are the most common effects there are. When you smoke a high dose of pot this is going to happen to you. Lower doses get the same effects but at a reduced level. Same as alcohol.. the more you ingest the more likely bizarre things are going to happen. Remember your level of expertise is a BIG factor. I recommend low doses if you are experiencing bad side effects.

  • Trouble remembering things while high - (This is the wierdest one I think. Stoners' memories suck when high but return to normal later)
  • Slowed reaction time - (So true. Watch yourself when operating vehicles. Make sure you are not blazed.)
  • Difficulty concentrating - (I think this depends on the level of intoxication. I know many people smoke up before being creative in writing, composing music and the arts... )
  • Sleepiness - (Depends on the weed. When I was a novice a good toke would knock me out. I was not used to it.)
  • Anxiety - (I get anxiety once or twice a year. It lasts for like 10-15 mins right after I do my first toke of the day. I don't know why this happens. Perhaps it has to do with my company and/or surroundings. The anxiety leaves and I enjoy a nice stone otherwise)
  • Paranoia - (The feeling that somehow you are in trouble or people know you are high and are out to get you. I used to get that but don't get it anymore. I am more used to being high)
  • Altered time perception - (I can work for hours before I realize time has passed and it seems like just a short time. Other times, when I am in a down mode time can be really slow.)
  • Decreased coordination - (Slight decrease for some, marked decrease for others. I think your familiarity with the stone makes a difference.)
  • Red, bloodshot eyes - (Get the Vizine! It gets the red out. Some people don't get redeye but most do)
  • Nausea - (I got sick once or twice when I was just starting experimenting with pot. I was also drinking beer. I was in party mode and did too much of everything. I never get nausea now, unless I have a coughing fit from dried out bud)
  • Headache - (I find pot to relieve things like headaches because it relaxes you.. I have heard no reports personally of this one)
  • Increased appetite - (Ahhhhhh. The munchies. 'nuff said)

Hashish

Hashish
What is hash? - Hashish consists of the THC-rich resinous material of the cannabis plant, which is collected, dried, and then compressed into a variety of forms, such as balls, cakes, or cookie-like sheets. Pieces are then broken off, placed in pipes and smoked. To many it is considered the "champagne" of marijuana. Hash traditionally comes from the Middle East. The name in Arabic means assassin, because hash dealers were quite often assassinated for their booty. Rip off artistists since forever huh?

If you are interested in making it yourself here is a recipe.
Hashish
This is a good method for making hash that most people will find easy to follow. I have made the amounts small, so you can see if this method works for you, without using much weed. If you like the method, use larger amounts for a larger yield.
You will need:
  • quarter ounce of good marijuana buds
  • glass jar with a cap (12-24 oz)
  • strainer or some window screen
  • coffee filters

Get . Make sure they are absolutely dry.
Crush about a quarter ounce of good marijuana buds over a kitchen sieve (0.5 mm mesh). The seeds and stems will stay on top of the sieve. "Grind" the buds gently through the sieve until you end up with powdered bud. Be sure that the thin skins that surround any seeds are included in this result, because they contain most of the resin glands.

Strain the resulting powder through another strainer (.25 mm mesh) if you like but is not necessary.

Add this powder to a 12-24 oz, or larger tall mason jar with a cap, fill the jar to the 1/4 mark with your mj powder.
Add very cold, or ice water till the jar is nearly (7/8 ths) full.
DO NOT USE WARM OR HOT WATER USE COLD, OR ICE WATER ONLY
Put the cap securely on the water - mj mixture and shake for as long as it takes to get the powder mixed into the water, this is harder than it sounds because mj is not water soluble, make sure there are no clumps of plant matter then stop shaking the mix. This may take a very long time - over 5 mins.

Wait for 30 minutes or longer, open the jar and remove the plant matter floating on the top. Put the material you remove in another jar and repeat the process to try to get the remaining resin.

Wait for 15 minutes or more, keeping the jar as still as possible, then carefully pour off the water to within 1 inch of the material at the bottom of the jar. The bottom of the jar material is the hashish.

Fill the jar with the hashish material with cold water as before, and let the mixture settle for a minimum of 15 minutes. Then carefully pour off the water to within 1 inch of the material at the bottom of the jar.

Pour the hash material through a coffee filter. Make sure you get it all, it is potent. After the water has drained through the coffee filter, use a spoon to push the resin to an edge of the coffee filter, then roll the hash up in the filter, and gently squeeze out more water. After that wrap some paper towels around the filter and drain more moisture.

Scrape the resin out of the filter and you have hashish. If you want to smoke the hash in a pipe you will have to press the resin into a solid mass by using your hands. If not, the hash will turn to a liquid when heated, and flow past your pipe screen.
Hashish Method II

Get a lot of female plants that have grown all the way and may even contain seeds. Make sure they are absolutely dry by hanging them in a shed for some weeks. Now take off all the leaves that are bigger than 1/2 inch. You end up with just a stem with some buds sitting on it.

Now strip off the buds into a container. (BTW, Hash (moroccan style) consists exclusively of the pressed grains of resin that are sitting on top of tiny resin glands that are most abundant on the leaves surrounding the seeds, or flowers. when the plant is dry this resin hardens to form a very small particle, called "pollen" which is not actual pollen however.)

So now you've got all the clean buds start crushing them over a kitchen sieve (mesh size about 0.5 mm). The seeds and stems will stay on top of the sieve. "Grind" the leaves gently through the sieve. You end up with a sort of powdered leaves. Be sure that the thin skins that surround the seeds are included in this result, because they contain most of the resin glands.

You may repeat this process using a sieve with an even smaller mesh size. (0.25 mm). Then take a cloth with the appropriate "mesh size" and rub the powder you have already got over this cloth. In the ideal case, only the finest particles pass through the cloth and will ill consist only of tiny grains of resin. Now take this powder and wrap it into a sheet of kitchen plastic foil. Now press this "package" between a few logs of wood. The result is a sheet of hashisch. If the sheet falls apart again you've got too much leafy stuff in between the resin. Try a cloth with a smaller mesh size the next time.

This procedure is only advised when you have so much weed to spare that you don't possibly smoke it all in a year.

Effects on the Brain

Scientists have learned a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects. When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to organs throughout the body, including the brain.

In the brain, THC connects to specific sites called cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.

The short-term effects of marijuana can include problems with memory and learning; distorted perception; difficulty in thinking and problem solving; loss of coordination; and increased heart rate.
